Think of Rajasthan - the Land of Kings - and the image which comes to mind could possibly be that of a lone tribesman with his camels, a massive fort, a sumptuous palace, a vast sweep of sand dunes stretching to the horizon, a bustling marketplace or a richly decorated traditional home. In fact Rajasthan is all of these and so much more. Iconic cities and their attendant forts and palaces are only part of the story- Rajasthan is still largely populated by villagers whose lives are very different to those of their city-dwelling cousins and when visiting Rajasthan it is ideal to experience both sides of this remarkable state.
