Vellore is an educational hub with premier institutions of the country and it is becoming a prominent location for medical tourism as well. Vellore is famous for the export of processed leather goods. Almost 40% of the country’s leather export is from here. The places of interest in Vellore are Vellore Fort, Vainu Bappu Observatory, Government Museum, Science Park, Yelagiri Hill station where you can enjoy paragliding, Jalakandeswarar Temple, Rathnagiri Murugan Temple, Sripuram Golden Temple and Amirthi Zoological Park.

All the important National and State Highways cross through Vellore and the city is connected to all the major cities of the nearby states.The trains connecting the cities in south as well as north india cross through any one of the three railway stations in the city.

Though the airstrip in vellore is not open to public, people can make use of the nearest airports at Chennai, Bangalore or Tirupathi which are at 130kms, 230 kms and 100kms respectively.
