Coonoor is lovely place to explore. The climate is cool and filled with mist most of the days. During monsoon seasons there may be heavy rainfall. Though the climate is pleasant throughout the year, the best time to visit Coonoor is between the months of Feb to May. There are direct buses from Coimbatore and Metuppalayam to Coonoor. The nearest railway station is at Metuppalayam. The toy train that runs between Ooty and Metuppalayam passes through Coonoor.

The second largest hill station in the blue mountain hills, situated at a distance of 18km from the Queen of Hills is Coonoor in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu. Being a highly suitable place for trekking expeditions, Coonoor is very much preferred by the tourists who want to explore the Nilgiri Hills.

The major attraction of Coonoor is Sims Park, which has spread across an area of 12 hectares, partially developed in Japanese style, more than 1000 species of plants are cultivated and maintained here. The annual flower and vegetable exhibition normally held in May attracts thousands of tourists from different parts of the world.

The other places worth paying a visit are the Dolphin’s nose, Lady Canning’s seat, Lamb’s Rock, Droog’s Fort, Law’s Falls and High Field Tea Factory. The other significant places in and around Coonoor are, the Pomological center, Pasteur Society of India, Satellite Silkworm Breeding Station, Strawberry Cultivation Center.

The Coonoor – Ooty road is easily accessible and driving through the lush green areas will be an awesome experience. From the international airport at Coimbatore which is at a distance of 93 kms, Coonoor can be reached by the ghat road with lot of hairpin bends to make your trip an enjoyable one.
