The Kundala Dam, a picturesque place, located about 20 kilometers from Munnar Enroute to Top Station is an artificial dam that attracts a lot of tourists. This dam is Asia’s first Arch Dam and offers boating experience to visitors. It is located near Munnar and can be easily reached through road in buses and taxi.
Specialty of Kundala Dam
Kundala is where the Cherry Blossoms bloom twice a year and the Neelakurinji once in twelve years. There is also a golf course available near the Dam that belongs to Tata Tea Estates. There are many options of boat riding such as the Shikara ride, row boating and pedal boating which can be rented. The lake itself is surrounded by thick trees which provides ample space for viewing the serenity of the lake sitting down.
Best time to visit
During the months of June to September is the best time to visit as it will be monsoon and the Dam can be seen having a lot of water flow.
