The whole structure was built with red bricks and polished lime. During the English rule, this church is the meeting place for all generals and most of the celebrations are held here. And so this church is called as the Westminster Abbey of the East.
The interior design of the church needs a special mention. The inner walls are beautified with intricate glass works, dooms, and wooden carvings. The church received its name after St. Mary because its foundation was laid on the Annunciation Day of Virgin Mary.
