To extol the veteran, erudite, sagacious and noteworthy Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar this extraordinary fort has been erected at Chennai, Kodambakkam.
This monument is built in the replica of Thiruvarur temple chariot with effigy of Thiruvalluvar. All the 1330 verses of Thirukural have been engraved in the pillars around the Kottam.
Valluvar Kottam - Chennai
This historic monument is erected by the former chief minister of Tamilnadu Dr. Karunanithi. In this year 1975-1976 this grandeur memorial came alive by peerless dedication of the architect V.Ganapathy Sthapathy.
The chariot with the statue of Thiruvalluvar stands majestically in the centre of the Kottam.
Thiruvalluvar Kottam is open on all days from 8 am to 6 pm. The entrance fee is Rs.10 for the adults and Rs 5 for children.
