Day Tour - Kovalam – Kanyakumari
You can reach Kanyakumari in about a couple of hours from Kovalam. One of the best things about being at the end point of a country is that, Kanyakumari serves as the only place in India where you can view both the sunrise and sunset.
Kanyakumari derived its name from the Goddess Devi Kanyakumari. A temple dedicated to her is present here where devotees flock throughout the year. The nose ring of the goddess in the temple shines very brightly that during the night ships mistake it for a lighthouse and crash among the sharp rocks in the sea.
Kanyakumari is the point where all the three seas meet, the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. This place is known as Triveni Sangam and the water here is in bluish green in color.
The splendor of the sunrise and the sunset can be viewed in all its glory from the Vivekananda Rock memorial. You have to ride a ferry to reach the rock as it is located in the sea. Another astonishing piece of marvel located at Kanyakumari is the Thiruvalluvar statue which stands 133 meters tall and the height denotes the 133 chapters in Thirukural.
After a nice stroll along the beach in Kanyakumari, take a ride back to Kovalam and indulge your taste buds in the steaming sea food which is a delicacy there.
