Kerala Tour Itineraries - Exclusive Waynad Tour

Wayanad is one of the least known yet spectacular hill regions of Kerala.

Only opened to development in the 1960s, it is now gaining a profile and could one day surpass Munnar as the most popular higher-altitude part of Kerala.

With a lot of beautiful sightseeing places in Wayanad, we recommend that if you come here you spend a minimum of 3 nights to properly explore this wild wonderland. Sky high mountains, sprawling tea and coffee plantations, glistening waterfalls, gorgeous lakes, thick forests, historical sites dating back to 6000 BC- there’s lots to see.

Day 1 : Kozhikode – Wayanad

You’ll be met on arrival at Kozhikode airport (flights from around India make this an easy place to reach- there are even international flights from the Gulf) and introduced to your driver. Depart and head up into the hills- depending on exactly where in the Wayanad district you are staying it can take 3-4 hours to reach your hotel.

Day 2 & 3 : Wayanad

Highlights of Wayanad include Chambra Peak (the highest in this part of the Western Ghats, and a decent challenge for trekkers), Pookode Lake (a much more gentle stroll), waterfalls at Soojipara and Meenmutty , the ancient Edakkal caves with some of India’s oldest rock carvings which are of Neolithic origin, Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, and a number of temples. One of the most spectacular day trips of all is to the river island of Kuruvadweep which is a hiking and rafting paradise. Two more nights in Wayanad
