A more idyllic honeymoon destination is hard to imagine. Kerala has many remote and romantic places which could make this special time even more unforgettable.

There are plenty of options beyond this short itinerary- if you have longer you could head to a remote tea plantation and stay in a private bungalow, spend multiple nights on a houseboat, add time at the beach and more.

Day 1 : Cochin Arrival – Munnar

On arrival at Cochin you will be met and introduced to your driver. Depart and head up to the ‘honeymooners’ paradise’, the beautiful hill station of Munnar. Visits en route to waterfalls at Valera and Cheeyappara. This evening enjoy a candlelit dinner with views out into the misty mountains which surround Munnar. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 2 : Munnar sightseeing

Morning walking tour in Fort Cochin, then depart and drive to Thrissur, the city of festivals as it is called by the Keralites. Visit the Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Kerala (note that with all Hindu temples in Kerala, access for non-Hindus is strictly limited). Later drive to Cheruthuruthy and visit the Kalamandalam, a university of performing arts run by the Government of India. Many traditional art forms are taught here including Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Kootiyattam, Panchavadyam and Ottam Thullal This is a perfect chance to experience first - hand the traditional art forms of Kerala and interact with the artists. Overnight in Cheruthuruthy.

Day 3 : Munnar – Thekkady

A beautiful drive today to Thekkady and the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. In the afternoon go for a hike in the forest in search of wildlife. Overnight in Thekkady

Day 4 : Thekkady – Alleppey

Descend from Thekkady and the hills to the backwaters of Kerala. Board your houseboat here and spend the afternoon cruising on the backwaters- there are few more romantic destinations than this anywhere. Overnight on the houseboat

Day 5 : Alleppey – Cochin

Disembark from houseboat around 9.30am and drive back to Cochin. After time in Fort Cochin (the shopping here is great, and there are plenty of interesting historic sites), transfer to Cochin airport and depart
